Yesterday we made delicious hummus with Whaea Gina. This term we have been learning about nutritious litterless lunches and this was an easy and cheap recipe we could try at home.
The ingredients we used were chickpeas, garlic, peanut butter, salt, pepper, cayeen pepper and lemon.
To make Hummus we drained a can of chickpeas (leaving a little bit of juice) and added this to the blender, we added the peanut butter, pepper, salt and lemon. Some of us added cayeen pepper.
We blended until it was a smooth consistency. We tasted it with crackers and carrots.
We had fun making the hummus. We were surprised how easy and cheap it was to make our own hummus, compared to buying a plastic container from the supermarket. The chickpeas only cost $1.50. A few of us are keen to try this at home.
